Following a broader trend away from them, the church is no longer going to require its female employees to wear pantyhose to work. It is fair to wonder whether this is just fresh evidence that the church’s ideas about gender roles, modesty. etc. are rooted primarily in the social mores of the 1950s. But no, it seems that pantyhose have been fighting a tough battle to remain required attire in a lot of work places. While it has been years since they have been required for, say, teachers, only recently have they come off the dress code for more conservative work places like law firms or financial houses.
